Blake is a trusted advisor to Australia’s leading institutions, government departments, regulators, directors, board members and public figures.
Blake supports clients through their largest and most important challenges. He advises on matters involving administrative law and judicial review, large-scale litigation with a focus on tort law (including novel cases), media, sport and entertainment law, and commissions of inquiry.
Blake provides his clients with creative solutions to complex legal problems, mindful of the preservation and protection of their standing and reputation.
He is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria, Australian and New Zealand Sports Law Association, Communications and Media Law Association, and sits as a disciplinary tribunal member for Cricket Victoria.

- Acting for a pre-eminent activist investor firm in response to allegations of insider trading and the tort of economic conspiracy.
- Acting for various education and religious institutions in a wide variety of claims including personal injury and historical abuse.
Royal Commissions and Inquiries
- Acting in the Royal Commission into the Management of Police Informants for Mr Simon Overland APM, former Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police.
- Acting in the Parliamentary Inquiry into the 2022 Flood Event in Victoria for Melbourne Water Corporation and its executive.
- Acting in the Office of the Racing Integrity Commissioner Inquiry into Victim Support and Complaints for Racing Victoria.
- Acting in various coronial inquests and investigations for government departments and agencies including Victoria Police.
- Acting for a Federal Government agency employee falsely accused of leaking sensitive information to the media.
- Acting for individual firefighters called to give evidence during the Environment Protection Authority’s prosecution of offences arising from the 2014 Hazelwood mine fire.
Media, Sport and Entertainment
- Providing pre-publication advice to various media outlets including The Conversation, Channel 7 Melbourne and The Big Issue.
- Representing both plaintiffs and defendants in defamation and contempt litigation.
- Acting for major sporting bodies and clubs in a variety of disputes including personal injury claims, disciplinary matters and historical abuse.
- Advising athletes and players associations in relation to risk management and litigation issues.
- Acting for major recording artists in conjunction with counsel in the United States on contractual and media matters.
