Ollie has specialised in international shipping and trade, and marine and transport law, for over 17 years.

Ollie has represented ship owners, ship managers, charterers, traders, freight forwarders and transportation companies, as well as their insurers. He has acted in complex domestic and international litigation and arbitrations involving claims for cargo damage and damage to hull, and under charterparties, contracts of affreightment, bills of ladings, freight forwarding and transport agreements, and in enforcement of judgments and arbitration awards in foreign jurisdictions. He applies a commercial and pragmatic approach to resolving disputes, providing straightforward problem-solving guidance to clients.

Ollie has worked for law firms in England, Singapore and Australia, major insurers in Rotterdam, Copenhagen, Singapore and Australia, and led claims teams in a management capacity. Ollie has also been seconded to major insurers in Oslo and Singapore. In 2023, Ollie was recognised by Doyles Guide as one of the Leading In-House Transport Lawyers in Australia.

  • Representing time charterers in defending a claim by cargo owners for contamination damage in the sum of EUR2.5 million.
  • Representing time charterers in a claim against the voyage charterers for unpaid balance of freight for over USD1.5 million.
  • Representing the tanker owner in defending a bill of lading claim by cargo owners for over USD1 million for alleged fuel oil contamination.
  • Representing the ship owner in relation to a collision at a remote Indonesian anchorage.
  • Representing a cargo owner’s insurers in a subrogated action for third party damage to a drilling rig caused in transit in the US.
  • Representing the ship owner in a demurrage claim against the voyage charter, who was an oil major.
